Upper Prep

Intake is increased from the beginning of year 3 and many subjects are taught by specialist subject staff in rooms equipped for that area of study.  The girls are set for mathematics.

Each class has its own Form Teacher, who is responsible for pastoral care.  Our aim is to maximise the potential of every girl and by offering a diverse range of activities, we seek to ensure that each girl has the opportunity to excel.  Our aim is to discover and develop the particular strengths of each child.  We encourage our girls to set high standards for themselves, to work hard at seeing a job through and to enjoy the rewards of their success.

For girls who experience difficulty with maths or English, extra help and tuition is available from specialist teachers.

A strong House system exists within the school.  The girls are divided into four Houses and fair, friendly competition is encouraged.  House merits are awarded for hard work and good conduct.  House competitions are organised throughout the academic year.

Parents receive a written report on their daughters' progress twice a year.  They are also able to meet those staff who teach their daughters at bi-annual parents' evenings and on open days. Parents are welcome to make appointments to see the teachers or Headmistress at any time- close co-operation between home and school is perceived by parents as one of the strengths of the school.

In Year 6, our girls are prepared for the entrance examinations of our own and other senior schools.
